Sweden’s Sandvik has closed a key deal with Zimplats to supply mining equipment for the Ngezi mining complex in Zimbabwe. The contract, valued at approximately SEK 280 million, has been officially registered during the third quarter of 2025.

Zimplats, the largest producer of platinum group metals in the country, continues to strengthen its subway mining strategy. This new order includes trucks, loaders and drilling equipment. drilling equipmentThe delivery will begin in the third quarter of 2025 and run through the second quarter of 2026. The operation is part of the effort to expand mining capabilities at Ngezi, following the transition from open pit methods.
In addition to the value of the order, the agreement incorporates a relevant component in after-sales services and accessories, which represents a strategic opportunity to consolidate Sandvik’s presence in the technical support and parts segment in the region.
Mats Eriksson, president of Sandvik’s mining area, highlighted that this collaboration is a reflection of the commitment to support its customers in achieving standards of productivity, safety and sustainability in their operations. This alliance strengthens a long-term relationship with Zimplats and positions Sandvik as a key player in the mining evolution of Southern Africa.
