Industrial robots to automate tasks in shipyards and complex environments

The companies creating the thefts share their academic origins in KAIST.

The startups Diden Robotics and Eurobotics, driven by developments of the KAIST Institute Institute, are deploying advanced industrial robots in both shipyards and complex urban environments.

Diden Robotics, founded by former Hu-bo lab researchers, has developed the DIDEN 30, a magnetic quadruped robot designed to operate on vertical and horizontal metal surfaces. This automated access system has been validated in real-world environments through collaborations with shipbuilders such as Samsung Heavy Industries y Hanwha Ocean .

In addition to magnetic displacement, the robot incorporates 3D sensors, visual mapping and a reinforcement learning model based on simulations without real errors. This methodology, known as DIDEN World, allows the AI to optimize movements without human intervention.

DIDEN Walker and other industrial robots

The same company is working on the development of the DIDEN Walker, a biped intended for areas with limited access inside ships. Its prototype is scheduled to be ready by the end of 2025, with capabilities of automated welding through a thoracic manipulator.

On the other hand, Eurobotics specializes in autonomous humanoid locomotion systems. Its technology stands out for the use of the Blind Walking Controller, which allows walking without cameras or external sensors. This has been demonstrated with a humanoid robot walking smoothly through downtown Gangnam, facing stairs, sidewalks and slopes.

Both companies share their academic background at KAIST and are aligned with the goals of the institute’s Vision 2031: to turn knowledge into global industrial value.

KAIST actively supports these new companies, with a strategy that combines technology transfer, entrepreneurship and economic impact.

As the DIDEN 30 robot moves towards specialized tasks such as inspection and welding in 2026, Eurobotics is preparing its official presentation at the international conference “Humanoids 2025”. Humanoids 2025 “which culminates on October 2, 2025.
