Auriga Space prioritizes its electromagnetic launcher

The California-based firm is advancing the implementation of its magnetic ramp system that, using a linear electric motor, converts electrical energy into kinetic energy to accelerate payloads before they start their conventional motors. This technology, inspired by maglev trainsThis technology, inspired by maglev trains, aims to reduce dependence on chemical propellant in traditional launches.

Auriga will concentrate its immediate efforts on Prometheus, a hypersonic test platform for hypersonic testing platform which represents its main avenue for near-term revenue generation. At the same time, it is laying the groundwork for a flexible, electric launch infrastructure that will enable multiple launches per day in response to both commercial and government needs.
