The global renewable energy company X-ELIO has officially started operating its new Funaki solar power plant with an installed capacity of 14 MW, located in the city of Ube, Yamaguchi Prefecture, Japan.

The facility was built on a former golf course, designed to generate more than 17,200 megawatt hours (MWh) of clean electricity per year. This energy is delivered directly to Amazonfollowing the signing of a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA) between the two companies. This alliance strengthens Amazon’s energy strategy to achieve carbon neutrality by 2040, in line with its participation in The Climate Pledge initiative.
[post_relacionado]With the commissioning of the Funaki plant, X-ELIO brings its installed capacity in Japan to 393 MW, while developing another 396 MW in photovoltaic projects and storage systems(BESS) distributed in different phases.
As part of its Sustainable Communities Plan, the company has donated emergency material to the local authorities of Ube. Among the supplies delivered were generators, tents and other equipment to strengthen the region’s preparedness for possible contingencies.
The commissioning of the Funaki plant reinforces our presence in Japan and consolidates our active role in the country’s energy transition.
