Simo, a municipality in the Finnish Lapland region, has become the site of one of the world’s northernmost battery storage systems. Sungrow, a global leader in clean energy technology, has deployed a BESS system (Battery Energy Storage System) with a capacity of 60 MWh and a power of 30 MW, in collaboration with FRV and AmpTank.

The PowerTitan 1.0 system installed in Finland has 26 containers of lithium iron phosphate batteries, pre-assembled for easy deployment. Its compact configuration allows for quick installation, even in harsh environments. This installation, close to the Arctic Circle, stands out for its operating efficiency thanks to integrated liquid cooling, key to maintaining performance in sub-zero temperatures.

Located next to the Fingrid Simojoki substation, this 0.4-hectare plant not only supports the local power grid, but also allows for greater integration of renewable energy sources. renewable energies such as wind and solar.
