Oil company Strike Energy , operator of the EP469/L25 Joint Venture, has announced outstanding results from flow testing of its Erregulla Deep-1 ( ED-1 ) well, the deepest well ever drilled on land in Australia.

The well is located in the West Erregulla gas field , where the Kingia and High Cliff gas formations were successfully tested, yielding results that reinforce the importance of this gas reserve in the Perth basin, as an important asset for the company.
[post_relacionado]Testing was conducted through a continuous interaction of flow rates and accumulations over the past 20 days, demonstrating impressive deliverability and high reservoir pressure. Kingia, one of the formations tested, produced an instantaneous peak rate of 60 million standard cubic feet per day ( mmscfd ) and a stabilized rate of 53 mmscfd, with a wellbore pressure of 5,515 psi.
During testing, no sand or water production was detected, and the recovered gas was assessed to be low in impurity, with a CO₂ content of just 4%. Strike Energy Managing Director Stuart Nicholls said: “ ED-1 has proven to be one of the best wells drilled in the Perth Basin, with extremely high deliverability and outstanding quality of produced gas .”
Despite the exceptional results at Kingia, the High Cliff formation could not be fully evaluated due to the strong production at Kingia, which displaced gas flows in the lower zone. However, the confirmed permeability at High Cliff and the quality of the gas recovered indicate that this zone could be exploited in future phases of the project.
The successful testing of ED-1 reinforces Strike Energy ‘s expectations for the West Erregulla field and the surrounding area, where the company has a significant interest. The well is expected to be incorporated into the Field Development Plan, with a view to developing it into a producer for the region.
