China’s new hyperloop successfully completed three tests conducted on a superconducting magnetic levitation line in Datong (Shanxi province). The purpose of the train is to transport passengers and goods at a speed of 1,000 km/h or higher in a nearly vacuum conduit.
[post_relacionado]If the project goes according to plan, the train will be the fastest land transportation technology in the world. The vehicle is built and run by contractor China Aerospace Science and Industry Corporation (CASIC).
The current pipeline available for testing is 1.24 miles (two kilometers) in length and is expected to be expanded to 37 miles (60 kilometers) in the coming years. CASIC has extensive military experience, having participated in the development of advanced weapon systems, such as railguns and the DF-17, the first Chinese hypersonic missile to enter service.
China is distinguished by currently exploring the world’s largest high-speed rail network, with a total length of more than 26,000 miles (42,000 km). The government plans to increase the maximum speed of its trains to 248 miles/h (400 km per hour) by 2025.
