The city of Harbin was the scene of the delivery ceremony for an unprecedented hydroelectric turbine, a 500-megawatt drive unit independently developed by Harbin Electric Machinery Company Limited. This equipment is destined for the Datang Zala hydropower Datang Zala, located in the Xizang Autonomous Region in southwest China.

The turbine at HarbinThe Harbin turbine, manufactured entirely in China, sets a benchmark in hydropower hydropower technology. With a robust design for extreme altitude and flow conditions, it is equipped with 21 precision hydraulic buckets. Its structure has a diameter of 6.23 meters, 1.34 meters thick and weighs approximately 80 tons.

From design to manufacturing, all processes were executed by domestic engineering, without reliance on foreign patents. In addition, high-strength materials and flow control techniques were used to extend the turbine’s service life and minimize maintenance.
