The collaboration between GE Aerospace and Kratos Defense & Security Solutions features the signing of a formal agreement, which expands joint development of advanced propulsion technologies, each targeting unmanned aircraft and collaborative combat platforms.
New engine development by GE Aerospace and Kratos
As part of the agreement, both companies are developing two new small turbofan engines: the GEK800 and GEK1500. These thrusters are designed for integration into unmanned aerial systems (UAS) and CCA-type aircraft, filling the Department of Defense’ s need for efficient, modular and affordable boost solutions.

For its part, Kratos offers two decades of expertise in autonomous platforms, including drones and missiles, and supplies the know-how in rapid and cost-effective development of small engines.
The GEK800 and GEK1500 are part of a new generation of low-cost, disposable engines, prioritizing scalability and rapid response to operational needs. In addition to these two engines, the agreement envisages future collaboration on additional product lines, establishing an alliance in the autonomous air defense sector.
Both companies agree that the future of defense systems lies in modular platforms powered by efficient and economical engines. This agreement strengthens GE Aerospace and Kratos as strategic references in the transition to a more agile defense, based on technologies for large-scale deployment and production.
