During the Pan American Conference on Non-Destructive Testing (PANNDT), organized by CINDE, James Denton, National Sales Manager of JME Advanced Inspection Systems, shared how the British company is consolidating its leadership in radiographic inspection of pipelines for the oil and gas industry.

Founded in 1986 on the east coast of the United Kingdom, JME Ltd has almost four decades of experience in developing solutions for non-destructive testing. The company specializes in manufacturing X-ray inspection systems for circumferential welds in pipelines for new oil and gas projects.

During the event, the company presented its renowned pipeline crawler systems, designed to inspect welds in pipelines between 6 and 48 inches in diameter, traveling inside the pipelines to capture high-precision images and identify structural defects without interrupting operations.
They also presented the Betatron, a high-energy X-ray source that reaches up to 9 MeV, highly valued for its ability to inspect dense materials and complex structures, offering an effective alternative to traditional radioactive sources. Moreover, it stands out for its portability and its profile as a source replacement technology, aligned with stricter international regulations.
Adaptability to extreme environments
One of the most important differentiators of the company’s products is their design to operate in extreme environmental conditions. James Denton commented that their systems are prepared to function in temperature ranges from -40 °C to +70 °C, allowing them to work efficiently in both the scorching heat of the Middle East and the freezing of Alaska.
