In a recent announcement, Titan revealed that it has developed the first liquefied natural gas (LNG) bunkering barge called “Titan FlexFueler” in Northwest Europe, specifically for the ARA (Amsterdam – Rotterdam – Antwerp) region. This innovative design marks a significant achievement in sustainable fuel infrastructure in the region.
In addition, Titan owns two FlexFuelers, each with a storage capacity of 1,500 m3 and a fuel transfer rate of 500 m3/h, operating from Amsterdam and Antwerp. These barges are designed to efficiently deliver LNG and BioLNG (liquefied biomethane) to ocean-going cargo vessels during simultaneous loading and unloading operations (SIMOPS), at pre-established locations.

The Impact of Titan FlexFuelers
On the other hand, the FlexFuelers are optimized to reduce costs and improve operational efficiency, playing a crucial role in the safe and expeditious supply of LNG and LBM in the region. These barges are specially adapted to handle and differentiate LNG and LBM flows, facilitating more flexible and efficient operations.
In terms of infrastructure innovation, Titan noted that its ship-to-ship bunkering operation in Cuxhaven is a significant breakthrough for the port, which had previously only handled LNG operations by truck and now also allows LNG bunkering from a fixed dock.
This development is part of a broader trend seen in several German ports, which are increasing their LNG operating capabilities to support the transition to cleaner fuels in shipping.
Finally, in July 2023, in a collaboration with United European Car Car Carriers (UECC), Titan Clean led significant LBM bunkering operations at the port of Zeebrugge. In addition, in June 2023, as part of its expansion strategy, Titan signed a long-term charter contract with Fratelli Cosulich for a modern LNG bunker vessel named Alice Cosulich, which has a capacity of 8,200 m3.
