The engineering company Sener has been selected to develop the detailed engineering phase of a new 130 megawatt bioenergy plant to be built in Ricanto, on the French island of Corsica. This facility, promoted by the subsidiary EDF PEI, seeks to modernize and optimize the regional electricity supply through clean and sustainable technologies.
Bioenergy plant project replaces aging infrastructure
The new plant will replace the Le Vazzio plant and is expected to be operational in late 2027 or early 2028. It will also be equipped with eight MAN 18V51/60 engines supplied by MAN Energy Solutions. MAN Energy Solutionswhich, together with Bonatti , forms the consortium responsible for the construction and maintenance of the plant.

This work will facilitate the execution of the project on site and ensure compliance with efficiency and sustainability standards.
With this plant, EDF PEI seeks to integrate a more efficient generation source to support the transition to decarbonized energy models. Sener’s participation consolidates its presence in the French market, and at the same time, reaffirms its experience in current complex infrastructure and renewable energy projects.
