SBM Offshore has signed a major contract with Woodside Energy for the construction and lease of a floating storage and offloading(FSO) unit to be used in the development of the Trion oil field and project, located in the deepwater Gulf of Mexico.

This contract, which extends over a 20-year period, is a supplement to a previous agreement for the transportation and installation of the FSO and floating production unit(FPU), awarded to SBM Offshore in 2023.
[post_relacionado]The new FSO will be based on a Suezmax-type hull design and will feature a state-of-the-art disconnectable turret mooring(DTM) system designed by SBM Offshore. This unit will be installed at a water depth of approximately 2,500 meters, with the capacity to store up to 950,000 barrels of crude oil. The Trion field, operated by Woodside with a 60% participation, in collaboration with PEMEX Exploración y Producción (40%), is located 180 km off the Mexican coast, near the maritime border with the United States.
