RWE has announced the planning and construction of“the first eight-hour battery” for energy storage in a region of Australia, located near Balranald, New South Wales.

This eight-hour lithium-ion battery energy storage system(BESS) is New South Wales’ first successful project as a bid proposal for a long-term, long-term energy services agreement for long-term storage.
[post_relacionado]This project will increase the capacity of the“BESS Limondale” to more than 50 megawatts (MW) and 400 megawatt hours (MWh). It will also connect to the existing grid infrastructure, storing excess renewable energy, and will renewable energy and releasing it into the New South Wales grid when it is most needed. The facility will be located adjacent to RWE’s 249 MWac Limondale solar farm.
On the other hand, Tesla has been selected as the supplier of the BESS, while Beon Energy Solutions will be the partner in charge of delivering the Balance of Plant, which includes the civil, structural, electrical and control works required to connect the Megapack to the existing 33 kV substation. Construction is expected to begin in the second half of this year, with commissioning scheduled for the end of 2025.
