The Bernhard Schulte Group has started construction of its first LCO2 tanker. The keel laying ceremony took place in November at the Dalian Shipbuilding & Offshore Company (DSOC) shipyard in China and development progress continues.
The first LCO2 tanker
This tanker was designed under IMO Type 2PG/3G standards and will feature independent C-type cylindrical tanks to transport refrigerated liquefied gases. It will also be fueled by liquefied natural gas and complemented by rotor sails and air lubrication systems.
[post_relacionado]The shipping project is part of a collaboration with Northern Lights , a joint effort by Shell, TotalEnergies and Equinor , to develop the world’s first cross-border CO2 transport and storage infrastructure. The system will connect customers in Europe to the permanent storage terminal in Norway, reinforcing global efforts to combat climate change.
The construction of the vessel is under the supervision of Schulte Marine Concept (SMC) , while Bernhard Schulte Shipmanagement (BSM) will manage the subsequent operations. This approach guarantees optimal standards in quality and sustainability throughout its entire service life.
