The Federal Government of Mexico announced its plans for the construction of a new dock in Dos Bocas, Tabasco, which will serve for the export of petroleum coke . The projected investment for this development is 708.3 million pesos and the project is expected to be operational this year.
The new dock would allow the export of Coke
Under the administration of the Secretary of the Navy (SEMAR) and ASIPONA , the dock is part of a larger effort, which includes refining in Dos Bocas, whose total cost amounts to approximately 16,816 million dollars, as reported by Octavio Romero Oropeza, general director of Petróleos Mexicanos (Pemex).
[post_relacionado]The function of petroleum coke is double , because it is exploited and used both as a reducing agent in the smelting of iron and as fuel in the cement industry . This product will be stored in specific yards built by Pemex, adjacent to the dock.
The construction of this dock is projected to have a length of 433 meters, and will be designed to accommodate Handy Size “Bulk Carrier vessels”, which can load up to 30 thousand tons, with a dock depth of 11.5 meters . In addition, specialized services will be offered to reduce carbon emissions, including short lines for electrical charging of ships.
The main objective of this project is to avoid interruptions in the production of the refineries. ASIPONA wishes to increase the income of Dos Bocas, and highlight its competitive advantages, thanks to its proximity to key hydrocarbon exploration and production areas.
