The X2 flying car, developed by AeroHT, a subsidiary of the Chinese company Xpeng, made its first flight in Beijing. The innovative vehicle took off during the Langfang International Economic and Trade Fair, held at Daxing International Airport in Beijing.

The X2, a two-seater flying car, is equipped with two driving modes: manual and autonomous. In autonomous mode, passengers can enjoy a safe and intelligent flight with simplified one-button start, return and landing operations, the company said. This fifth-generation vehicle, which had its world maiden flight in Dubai in 2022, is designed for low-altitude air mobility.
[post_relacionado]In Beijing, its maiden flight coincided with the presentation of a municipal plan to establish three major air routes for the low-altitude sector by 2027. This plan envisages usage scenarios such as emergency rescue, logistics, cultural activities, tourism and daily commuting.
Since 2021, China’s low-altitude economy has experienced remarkable growth, driven by central government policies and regulations to foster this emerging sector, which includes both unmanned drones and manned flying cars operating below 3,000 meters altitude.
The X2’s design includes an enclosed cockpit with minimalist teardrop-shaped styling and a sci-fi aesthetic, optimized for aerodynamics and flight performance. To reduce weight, the vehicle features an all-carbon fiber structure.
CAAC certification
The China Information Industry Development Center, affiliated with the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, forecasts that the country’s low-altitude market will exceed $138 billion by 2026, up from $69 billion in 2023. This growth reflects the increasing interest and investment in air mobility technologies.

In March, XPENG AEROHT announced that the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) had accepted the Type Certificate application for the airframe of its “Ground Carrier” flying car, codenamed X3-F, reaffirming its airworthiness certification. The price of the X2 has not yet been disclosed.
