Wison New Energies officially signed an EPCIC contract with the Turkish Petroleum Corporation (TPAO) for the design, construction and installation of a floating production unit (FPU) to operate in Phase 3 of the Sakarya gas field. This agreement represents a major breakthrough in the development of the largest natural gas field discovered in Turkey to date.
The EPCIC contract and deepwater project
The structure will be located 170 kilometers offshore in the Black Sea, at a depth of 2150 meters. The floating unit is designed for a daily export of up to 25 million standard cubic meters, with advanced technical capabilities for produced water treatment and MEG injection. In addition, it will have to comply with the technical requirements of the Bosphorus Strait, which impose air draft limitations.

By reducing dependence on natural gas imports and increasing local production, the country seeks to establish itself as a key player in regional energy supply. The floating platform will contribute directly to that goal.
Wison emphasizes that this contract reinforces its global presence and capabilities in complex offshore projects. For its part, TPAO points out that Wison’s experience in offshore infrastructure was a decisive factor for this partnership. The project is also projected as an opportunity to strengthen the strategic alliance between both entities.
The FPU was designed to operate for at least three decades under demanding conditions. Its technical specifications include a water treatment capacity of 1350 cubic meters per day and MEG regeneration of up to 2503 m³/day. This will maintain system efficiency and prevent the formation of hydrates in the pipelines.
