Volvo Trucks has announced the launch of its next-generation electric truck, which promises a range of up to 600 km on a single charge. The new Volvo FH Electric will be available in the second half of 2025.

The electrification of heavy trucks continues to advance globally, now making it possible to travel longer distances. In 2025, Volvo will launch a version of the “FH Electric truck” with a range of 600 kilometers on a single charge. This will enable transport companies to operate electric trucks on inter-regional and long-distance routes, completing a working day without the need to recharge.

The 600 km range is made possible by Volvo’s new drivetrain technology, known as the“electric axle“, which allows for greater on-board battery capacity. Through the improved battery management system and overall efficiency, they allow the propulsion system to contribute to a longer range.
Volvo is the world leader in medium and heavy-duty electric trucks, with eight electric models in its portfolio. This broad range makes it possible to electrify urban and regional distribution, construction, waste management and, soon, long-haul transport. To date, Volvo has delivered more than 3,800 electric trucks to customers in 46 countries.

The transportation sector accounts for 7% of global carbon emissions. The battery-electric battery-electric trucks are vital to reducing the climate footprint. In addition to the environmental benefits, these trucks offer drivers an improved workplace with lower noise and vibration levels, according to Roger Alm.
