Versalis, Eni’s chemical division, has announced the opening of a new recycling plant in Porto Marghera , an industrial area located west of Venice’s historic center. The plant will be dedicated to the production of mechanically recycled polymers. This innovative project, part of the company’s circular economy strategy, will allow for the production of up to 20,000 tons of recycled and expandable polystyrene (r-GPPS and r-EPS) per year.
The new plant aims to meet the growing demand for sustainable solutions in key industrial sectors such as packaging and construction. The recycled materials , which contain between 35% and 100% post-consumer recycled plastics , will be used in the manufacture of thermal insulation panels and protective packaging for household appliances.

[post_relacionado]With this project, Versalis reinforces its commitment to sustainability through technological innovation, optimizing plastics recycling processes. The Porto Marghera plant is part of the Revive range, which integrates high-quality, high-performance recycled products.
Furthermore, the plant’s strategic location in Porto Marghera, close to other key Versalis facilities in Italy, facilitates efficient logistics for both the receipt of raw materials and the distribution of finished products.
This plant is the first step toward the transformation of Venice’s petrochemical hub, aligned with Versalis’ transformation and relaunch plan.
