Chinese supplier to the offshore wind industry, ZTT, has announced that its monopile installation vessel named Zhongtian 39, which was launched at sea in October 2023, will undergo a significant upgrade. This upgrade is intended to equip the ship with greater capabilities for its next mission.
Technical improvements of the monopile installation vessel
Planned improvements include the integration of a DP2 dynamic positioning system, which will replace the DP1 currently in use. In addition, the company will add a heliport and expand its accommodation capacity to accommodate up to 210 people.
[post_relacionado]The Zhongtian 39, a 215-meter-long, 51.8-meter-wide self-propelled crane vessel, was launched on October 29, 2023. This vessel has two main hooks: a full rotation hook with a capacity of 3,500 tons and a fixed stern crane with a capacity of 5,000 tons. These characteristics allow the vessel to erect wind turbine foundations of 3,200 tons and upper parts of substations up to 4,500 tons. In the following video of the company you can see the vessel.

Advanced equipment and load capacity
The vessel is also equipped with a 3500 kJ MENCK hydraulic breaker and has a deck that can accommodate a full jacket structure or two monopiles, each with a diameter of 10 meters and a length of 120 meters.
The company has been involved in offshore wind energy projects outside China, mainly through its subsidiary ZTT Submarine Cable & System. Recently, they completed the installation and termination of a 155 kV subsea cable connecting the Gode Wind 3 offshore wind farm to the DolWin kappa offshore converter platform in Germany.
