Toyota continues to demonstrate the power of artificial intelligence with its humanoid robot CUE6 , who has just achieved an impressive feat by making the longest basketball shot from a record distance of 80 feet (24.55 meters). This new achievement represents a major breakthrough in the world of robotics and sports, breaking a barrier that only NBA players had been able to imagine.

On September 26th, in Nagakute City, Japan, CUE6 was challenged to make the farthest shot ever made by a humanoid robot . Even though the first attempt was not successful, the robot did not give up and made the right hit on its second try, leaving spectators and the engineers behind this project speechless.

The origin of CUE: from LEGO to the basketball court
The CUE project began in 2017 within Toyota as a small research initiative, with the goal of exploring how artificial intelligence could replicate human skill in physical tasks. What began as a simple test using LEGO components has evolved into a highly sophisticated humanoid robot that can now throw balls, move autonomously, and adapt to different positions on the court.
CUE project leader Tomohiro Nomi expressed his satisfaction with the achievement and highlighted Toyota’s ambition to continue surprising the world.

In the future, CUE6 is expected to be able to perform dunks like those of basketball greats like Michael Jordan, taking robotics and artificial intelligence to new frontiers.
