The Russian icebreaker Viktor Chernomyrdin, Russia’s diesel-electric giant, is poised to become a new attraction for Arctic tourists. This iconic vessel will be operated by Rosmorport and will ensure navigation in the icy Arctic waters as an exclusive cruise ship during the summer months.

In response to the growing demand for adventure tourism, this icebreaker, normally used to ensure the safety of winter shipping routes , has been transformed into a platform for exploring the wonders of the Arctic.

During the summer months, when the need for icebreaker support in the region diminishes, the Viktor Chernomyrdin will take travelers through some of the most remote and beautiful areas of the Arctic, including the coasts of the Kola Peninsula, the Sredny and Rybachy Peninsulas, and the archipelagos of Novaya Zemlya and Franz Josef Land.
Through its initiative to develop a trans-Arctic shipping corridor, the company seeks to secure navigation in the Arctic, but also to open a new door for tourism in these extreme regions. This development responds to the growing demand for unique experiences, such as expedition cruises, which combine adventure and comfort in the heart of the Arctic ice.
With capacity for 90 passengers and 38 crew members, the Viktor Chernomyrdin promises to be a unique option for adventurers looking to explore the most remote corners of the Arctic.
