AAL Shipping has added to its fleet the third vessel of its Super B class, the AAL Houston, a multipurpose vessel designed to meet the demands of heavy project transportation. This vessel, with a capacity of 32,000 dwt, is part of a series of eight newbuildings that strengthen AAL’s presence in industrial and breakbulk cargo transportation.
The AAL Houston was christened on September 12 at the CSSC Huangpu-Wenchong Shipyard in Guangzhou, China. The event was attended by representatives from AAL Shipping and Columbia Shipmanagement, among others. Equipped with high-capacity cranes (up to 700 tons) and a unique deck extension system, the vessel offers 5,200 m² of space to accommodate oversized cargoes.

Advanced capabilities and efficiency of AAL Houston
This vessel, like its predecessors AAL Limassol y AAL Hamburghas a dual-fuel propulsion system, which reduces environmental impact. With the capacity to handle up to 90,000 tons of project cargo, it is positioned as a key asset for sectors such as energy, construction and mining, where the transportation of large-scale equipment is crucial.
On AAL ECO-DECKan innovative feature of this new series of vessels, increases efficiency in the transport of bulky cargoes, adapting to the growing requirements of industrial projects. Kyriacos Panayides, CEO of AAL Shippingmentioned that the aim of these vessels is to anticipate the future demands of the sector, ensuring reliable routes and responsiveness for customers.
The AAL Houston will join the company’s key routes connecting Asia with Europe, the Americas and Australia. On its maiden voyage, it will carry essential equipment such as HRSG modules, barges and transformers. Delivery of the next vessels in the series is scheduled through to 2026, which includes the AAL Newcastle and AAL Mumbaiwhich will have a higher lifting capacity, reaching 800 tons.
