The Bhumibol Dam 1 floating solar hybrid hydroelectric project, located in Tak Province, Thailand, is part of an initiative to move towards carbon neutrality in the country. The Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand ( EGAT ) has opened the bidding documents for this project, which aims to generate 158 MWac of clean energy by installing floating solar panels on the dam’s reservoir.

Bidding documents for the Floating Solar Project 1 will be open until April 18, 2025, with sealed bids opening on July 14, 2025. This floating solar project falls under Thailand’s Energy Development Plan 2018-2037 , with the projection of developing more floating solar projects on dams nationwide, reaching a total capacity of 2,725 MW by 2030.
