The RV Nautilus, TDI-Brooks ‘ newest dynamic positioning vessel, has made its arrival on the shores of the U.S. East Coast.
Following a six-month modernization phase in Las Palmas, this type of vessel will be used to provide essential support to wind, offshore and other subsea projects.
[post_relacionado]At 75 meters in length, the DP2 is equipped with state-of-the-art technologies, including the Geomil Manta-200 CPT, a device capable of deployment through the moon pool located in the center of the ship.
TDI-Brooks’ reach in offshore wind energy
This advanced system has the ability to penetrate the seafloor to depths of 40-50 meters, depending on the composition of the seafloor, which facilitates accurate information on soil composition. These data are essential for optimal site selection and the design of marine infrastructure, such as the wind farms.
In the face of rapid growth in the marine renewable energy sector, TDI-Brooks has observed the growing demand for subsea services and the evolving needs of its customers for its services on both the East and West Coasts of the United States. This has enabled the company to adequately prepare itself to offer a broad spectrum of offshore support services.
These include subsea operations, construction assistance, exploration and production support, remotely operated vehicle (ROV) operations, diving services, marine scientific research, topographic mapping, and even military assistance, according to its release.
Technology of the RV Nautilus
The RV Nautilus is distinguished by its versatility, incorporating a North American MCK-1240 crane on the upper foredeck STBD side SWL, capable of handling loads of up to 7.1 tons. This feature, together with its spacious deck and the capacity to accommodate 46 people, underlines the vessel’s functionality and ability to adapt to various maritime missions.
In addition, equipped with a suite of state-of-the-art geotechnical tools from TDI-Brooks, the vessel is prepared to perform seafloor sampling and measurements with unprecedented accuracy.
Finally, the RV Nautilus is also equipped with a Teledyne RESON full ocean depth multibeam echo sounder (MBES), designed to carry out advanced marine hydrographic surveys, in addition to surface geochemical surveys (SGE) and seafloor heat flux (HF) surveys. These capabilities underscore the role of the RV Nautilus as a critical platform for advancing research and development in the marine energy sector.
