Solstad Maritime ASA has confirmed the awarding of a new contract with Petrobras for the construction support vessel “Normand Commander”. The agreement strengthens the Norwegian group’s position in the competitive Brazilian offshore market, one of its strategic operational focuses.
Petrobras hires Normand Commander for USD 108 million
The contract provides for a bareboat lease from Solstad Maritime (SOMA) to Solstad Offshore (SOFF), which is the direct holder of the agreement with Petrobras. This contractual structure allows for an optimized operation between both entities of the Solstad group, keeping the operational and administrative control of the vessel in specialized hands.
[post_relacionado]The start of operations of the Normand Commander is scheduled to start operations in the first quarter of 2026 and will run for four years. The gross value of the contract is approximately USD 108 million, not including services of operated vehicles remotely operated vehicle (ROV) services (ROV) services, which could represent an additional complement depending on the needs of the Brazilian state-owned oil company.
Solstad gains ground in South America
With this new contract, Solstad continues to expand its portfolio of services in South America, consolidating its long-term relationship with Petrobras. The choice of the Normand Commander, a vessel equipped for underwater subsea interventions and construction support, responds to the growing demand for technical solutions in deepwater offshore projects.
Solstad Maritime currently operates a fleet of 32 specialized vessels and employs more than 1,500 people. Its subsidiary, Solstad Offshore, operates a further 8 vessels and employs close to 700 workers, strengthening the group’s operational capacity in regions such as the North SeaSoutheast Asia and Africa.
