Robosys Automation, a developer of maritime autonomy technology, has launched its new autonomous test vessel, Pioneer, equipped with the innovative VOYAGER AI system. This 6.75-meter vessel, manufactured by Kirby Marine USA, was developed to conduct uncrewed navigation trials and evaluate the integration of advanced autonomy technology.
What makes the autonomous trials boat special?
Pioneer stands out for its rapid integration with third-party propulsion and navigation systems . Within a few days, the vessel was equipped with VOYAGER AI software, enabling full control over heading, collision detection, and route optimization.
[post_relacionado]With compatibility with vessels ranging from 2 to 320 meters in length , VOYAGER AI offers a flexible solution for both newly built vessels and existing units.
Docked in Rhode Island, USA, the Pioneer will serve as a testing platform for Robosys offices in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, and India. Its ability to operate with remote control systems and conduct tests in realistic maritime conditions makes it a benchmark for research and development in naval autonomy.
Safety and efficiency in autonomous navigation
In addition to automating navigation, VOYAGER AI software also enhances safety with its Collision Action Decision Aid (CADA) system, which complies with COLREGS regulations. It also includes platform control technologies that enable remote operation of the engine and other essential onboard systems.
Robosys Automation CEO Aditya Nawab noted that the Pioneer launch will demonstrate the capabilities of its technology and optimize the performance of vessel autonomy. With these tests, the company seeks to strengthen its leadership in the development of unmanned maritime solutions.
