Repsol leads in Europe with 1,500 stations supplying 100% renewable diesel fuel

Renewable diesel, current engines and 40% coverage: Repsol activates its climate strategy without replacing the vehicle fleet.

Repsol has consolidated its position as the European benchmark in sustainable mobility by surpassing the 1,500 service stations that offer its 100% renewable diesel. With 1,429 points in Spain and 71 in Portugal, the company has reached 40% coverage in its network, in line with the objectives defined in its energy roadmap for the period 2024-2027.

Adoption of renewable diesel as an immediate solution

This fuel, identified by its distinctive pink color, is formulated for all diesel engines and offers a reduction of up to 90% in net CO2 emissions compared to its fossil version. Repsol thus reaffirms that the decarbonization of transport by means of sustainable liquid fuels is a tangible alternative, especially in a context where 97% of the vehicle fleet in Europe still uses combustion engines.

So far this year, the company has distributed more than 210 million liters of renewable diesel. renewable diesel, a keya key indicator of user adoption. This achievement not only responds to growing demand, but also to the need to accelerate immediate solutions to reduce the carbon footprint without technologically replacing the current fleet.

Renewable gasoline and industrial expansion

Repsol’s proposal is not limited to diesel. The Nexa 95 gasolinealso of 100% renewable origin, is already marketed in several regions such as Madrid, Catalonia and the Valencian Community. This fuel, developed at the Repsol Technology Lab and produced in Tarragona, represents a commitment to maintaining engine performance with lower emissions.

The company is also making progress in infrastructure with the Cartagena plant, the first on the Iberian Peninsula capable of producing diesel and sustainable aviation fuel on a large scale. In 2026, a new facility will be added in Puertollano with the capacity to generate up to 200,000 tons of biofuels per year.

Management commitment to the energy transition

From Repsol’s management, Valero Marín emphasized that this deployment is part of a firm commitment to low-emission mobility and energy transition, stressing that diversity of solutions is essential for a real change in transportation.

Repsol’s strategy reinforces the relevance of renewable fuels as an effective bridge to climate neutrality, integrating them into current mobility without expecting long-term structural transformations.
