Construction of the largest Solar Power Plant (CSP) project has been initiated by Northwest Engineering Corporation Limited (POWERCHINA NORTHWEST), which has taken the reins as EPC contractor for the 200 MW project in Delingha, China, financed by CGN New Energy.
The project starts with the installation of the solar tower.
In an initiative led by CGN New Energy, the plan for solar hybrid development in Delingha aims for a capacity of 2,000 MW. The project covers a vast tract of land of approximately 3,529.8 millionm2, to be built in two distinct phases. Each stage will combine 800 MW of PV technology with 200 MW of CSP.

This project is characterized by its unique combination of solar thermal photovoltaic and molten salt thermal storage technologies. This synergy is harnessed to convert solar heat and surplus electricity from local wind and solar sources into energy by heating stored molten salts. These, in turn, generate high-temperature steam through a heat exchanger, which drives a steam turbine generator to produce electricity.
High-level production and capacity
Designed to operate 1,319 hours per year, this 200 MW CSP complex is expected to produce 263.88 million kWh per year. Once completed, the annual electricity production supplied to the grid is expected to reach 3,650 million kWh.
Mr. Ke Xijun, project leader, shared his vision of integrating this initiative with the first hybrid power demonstration project in the western Haixi region. Focusing on a molten salt CSP plant for energy demand management, this strategy promises to support the development of a clean energy industry in the mountainous Qinghai province. This will make a significant contribution towards the goal of achieving carbon neutrality. carbon neutrality in the region.
