EvoLogicsa Berlin-based company specializing in underwater robotics, data networking technologies, positioning and high-tech sensors, has announced the release of the latest version of the Quadroin AUV. This vehicle, first unveiled in May 2021, has garnered attention for its unique penguin-inspired design, optimized for underwater monitoring and mapping tasks.

About the Quadroin AUV
The initial series of Quadroin prototypes, developed in collaboration with Hereon for the Helmholtz Association’s MOSES initiative, was designed specifically for monitoring ocean phenomena such as eddies. Equipped with advanced sensors, these vehicles collect geo-referenced data on physical water parameters, such as temperature, pressure, oxygen, conductivity and fluorescence, at various depths.
Building on this foundation, EvoLogics has implemented significant enhancements to the Quadroin platform, with a focus on increasing the load capacity of its instruments and implementing artificial intelligence algorithms. artificial intelligence (AI) (AI) algorithms for subsea processing. This evolutionary process has resulted in a complete redesign of the vehicle interior, integration of upgraded components and optimization of sensor systems to support a wider variety of instruments without compromising operational efficiency.
The new generation Quadroin now supports a higher instrumentation payload. It includes side scan sonar for acoustic imaging of the seabed and two Full HD underwater cameras, one pointing forward at 45 degrees and one downward, both equipped with adjustable LED illumination, for visual identification of the underwater environment.
EvoLogics’ newly integrated AI-driven object recognition module facilitates object detection in both sonar and real-time video transmissions, with data processing performed directly onboard. This system also enables automatic obstacle avoidance by means of a frontal probe system.
Finally, the Quadroin’s hardware and propulsion systems have been completely upgraded with state-of-the-art components to ensure optimal performance. The vehicle is now equipped with the Nortek Nucleus1000 subsea navigation package, which combines Nortek’s DVL technology with additional sensors for precise and reliable AUV control.
