The Port of San Diego has secured a $5 million grant from the Clean Air for All program, managed by the San Diego County Air Pollution Control District . This funding will advance the electrification of port operations, aligning with the Maritime Clean Air Strategy adopted in 2021.

With this support, the port will modernize the electrical infrastructure of its Tenth Avenue Maritime Terminal. This includes fast-charging systems for high-capacity forklifts and electric trucks, a clear commitment to reducing emissions and improving air quality in disadvantaged communities.

Furthermore, this project benefits from a $6 million contribution from the EPA ‘s Clean Ports Program , awarded in 2024. The collaboration seeks to improve the port into a benchmark for environmental justice, promoting public health and a sustainability model that can be replicated in other regions.
