The new tug William E Moran began operations in New York Harbor, enhancing Moran Towing’s fleet modernization strategy. With a design focused on performance, operational safety and environmental efficiency, this new generation vessel responds to the growing challenges of the contemporary port environment.
The construction of the tug William E Moran
The William E. Moran, developed by Master Boat Builders and designed by the Canadian firm Robert Allan, is part of the RApport 2800 series. This class of tugboats is oriented to escort maneuvers and high performance port assistance. With a length of 28 meters and a beam of 12 meters, the vessel delivers more than 80 metric tons of fixed-point draft, adapting to the increasing size and complexity of vessels operating in U.S. ports.
[post_relacionado]This vessel is equipped with Caterpillar 3516E Tier IV engines, which generate a total of 6770 horsepower, meeting current low emission standards(LEV). It also has two Z-Drive units, which provide high maneuverability, ideal for complex maneuvers in tight spaces. The ABS Escort certification validates its capability for escort functions with the highest safety and performance standards.
The vessel is designed with the well-being of the crew in mind, where the design includes enlarged rest areas, ergonomic work areas and modern onboard support systems. Connectivity is guaranteed with Starlinksatellite technology, and the Rose Point ECS navigation system allows precision in any operating condition.
