Navantia UK has launched development of McDermott Trinidad ‘s Manatee project by completing the first steel cut at its facility in Arnish, Scotland. This event marks the official start of manufacturing, which occurred ahead of schedule, demonstrating the company’s efficient planning and execution.
The production of critical underwater structures
This contract has a duration of one year, and focuses on the production of essential subsea components for the Manatee gas field , located in deep waters of Trinidad and Tobago.

The Arnish site has been strengthened to become a strategic hub for the manufacturing of complex structures such as manifolds and subsea connection modules , meeting international standards for the offshore sector.
The award of this contract is creating skilled jobs in the Western Isles of Scotland, strengthening the local supply chain, and reaffirming Navantia UK’s commitment to the region’s industrial development .

Furthermore, the project strengthens the strategic vision of integrating the Arnish facilities into the Navantia UK family as a center of excellence for energy infrastructure, in line with the United Kingdom’s objectives of promoting industrial capabilities in clean energy and offshore production.
The project’s prime contractor, McDermott Trinidad , is developing this phase of the Manatee field in collaboration with Shell . The logistics chain spans engineering on multiple continents to manufacturing in Europe and assembly in the Caribbean, demonstrating the global nature of this operation.
