On December 18, 2024, NASA took a key step in expanding its interplanetary communications capabilities with the installation of the 34-meter-wide steel structure for the DSS-23 space antenna . This new component of the Deep Space Network (DSN) is located at the Goldstone Space Communications Complex in California and is set to begin operations in 2026.
