NASA is preparing to cover the return of SpaceX’s Dragon spacecraft , which has completed its 31st resupply mission to the International Space Station (ISS). This Thursday, December 5, the craft will undock from the forward port of the station’s Harmony module , carrying back to Earth more than 6,000 pounds of supplies, scientific equipment and experiments vital to continuing space research .
At 11:05 a.m. EST, Dragon will fire its thrusters to move away from the space station, a procedure carefully coordinated by SpaceX controllers. Importance of the return of the Dragon ship

This study offers unprecedented insight into the microbial population in space, which could have important implications for the health and sustainability of long-term spaceflight .
Another relevant project is the SpaceTED (Space Tissue Equivalent Dosimeter), which has been monitoring crew radiation exposure on the space station. In addition, European researchers will be able to study 3D printed metal samples in microgravity conditions.
