Kodal Minerals announces progress at the Bougouni lithium project in southern Mali. The company announced the production of its first spodumene concentrate following the start-up of its dense media separation ( DMS ) processing plant.

The first phase of commissioning of the DMS plant included testing with pegmatite ore, achieving a concentrate with a Li₂O content of 5.53%, in line with the established production profile. Kodal Minerals highlighted that the plant has demonstrated efficient performance, operating at 50% of its capacity and progressively increasing until reaching its nominal capacity.
[post_relacionado]Mining activities at the Ngoualana deposit continue to develop with uninterrupted shifts, which has enabled the accumulation of more than 350,000 tonnes of ore with an average grade of 1.17% Li₂O, ensuring a stable supply for the processing plant. This volume is equivalent to three months of production and guarantees operational continuity in the transition to the commercial production phase.
Kodal Minerals expects to achieve stable production in the coming weeks, with a monthly target of 10,000 tonnes of spodumene concentrate. In addition, the company confirmed that its first lithium shipment to Hainan, China, is in the planning stages and will be completed before the end of the quarter.
On the regulatory front, the company reported that the transfer of the mining license has been accepted by the Department of Mines of Mali and is awaiting the signature of the final decree by the country’s president, which will consolidate the long-term operation of the Bougouni project.
The start of lithium production at Bougouni strengthens Africa’s position in the supply of strategic minerals, aligning with growing global demand driven by the technology and electric vehicle industries.
