Hy Stor Energy has secured a reservation for more than 1 GW of alkaline electrolyzer and PEM solutions from the company “Nel ASA”. This capacity is destined for the Mississippi Clean Hydrogen Hub (MCHH), a project located in the USA. which combines the production of hydrogen with its storage in salt caverns.

The execution of the order is subject to final investment approval (FID). According to plans, manufacturing of the electrolyzers will take place at the Nel plant in Herøya, Norway , and will run from 2025 to mid-2027. It is also highlighted that the capacity reservation made by Hy Stor will not be registered as a firm order nor will it be included in the order book until the final purchase is confirmed.

The MCHH had previously missed the chance to be selected in the US Regional Clean Hydrogen Center awards program, where only seven projects received between $750 million and $1.2 billion in federal funding in 2023.
