With an investment of US$396 million, the Guarango wind farm project, located in the districts of Ocucaje and Santiago de Ica, will contribute 330 MW of clean energy to Peru’s National Interconnected Electrical System (SEIN). The wind farm will have 60 wind turbines with a rated capacity of 5.5 MW and will be connected to the national grid through a 220 kV, 55 km transmission line.
Characteristics of the Guarango wind farm
The construction phase comprises 22 months dedicated to the installation of the generation components and 15 months for the transmission components. The company leading the project will be SL Energy S.A.C. It is expected to start commercial operation this year, adding to the 507 MW of new renewable capacity that will be incorporated to the SEIN this year.
