ExxonMobil is expanding its carbon capture and storage (CCS) strategy by securing the largest offshore CO2 repository in the United States. This agreement, signed with the Texas General Land Office ( GLO ), will allow carbon dioxide storage in an area exceeding 271,000 acres on the coast of the Gulf of Mexico. This space adds to the land storage portfolio that ExxonMobil is developing, strengthening its leadership in the clean technology industry.

ExxonMobil Low Carbon Solutions President Dan Ammann said the development will substantially reduce emissions across the Gulf region. “ With our growing list of customers ready to deploy carbon capture and storage solutions, we are well positioned to provide a comprehensive solution that includes capture, transportation and storage ,” Ammann said.

General Land Office Commissioner Dawn Buckingham expressed her satisfaction with the agreement, highlighting that such initiatives ensure energy independence and generate income for the educational sector in Texas.
The energy company operates the largest network of CO₂ pipelines in the country and plans to use its infrastructure to advance this capture and storage mission. This step strengthens its commitment to sustainable energy and its ability to mitigate greenhouse gas emissions.
