Exus Renewables has formalized the financing of the Cibele solar park in Portugal. The transaction was structured together with MUFG EMEA, representing a firm step forward in strengthening photovoltaic generation in the Alentejo region and improving Portuguese energy autonomy.
The scope of the Cibele solar park
The Cibele farm will occupy some 300 hectares in Alentejo and will have a maximum capacity of 130 MW. When operational, it will be able to supply renewable electricity to approximately 69,000 households per year, contributing to the reduction of emissions and the fulfillment of national climate commitments.
[post_relacionado]The MUFG EMEA organization acts as lead arranger, while also assuming the roles of hedging provider, facility agent and account bank. This configuration makes it possible to articulate a financial package that integrates lending, risk coverage and operational management tailored to the technical and economic profile of the project.
The transaction strengthens Exus Renewables ‘ presence in the Iberian Peninsula and supports its positioning as a provider of next-generation energy solutions. It also aligns with Portugal’s energy plan, which envisages 21 GW of installed solar capacity by 2030.
This increase in PV capacity in Alentejo will boost the local value chain, from the construction phase to long-term maintenance. It will also diversify the generation matrix and bring greater stability to the system through an infrastructure backed by solid project financing.
