The Norwegian Offshore Directorate (NOD) has granted Equinor Energy AS authorization to drill well 6407/1-B-2 H, located in the Haltenbanken region within the Norwegian Sea. The operation is part of production license 1121 and was approved under Section 13 of the Resource Management Regulations.
The licensed well is tied into the development of the Kristin South field, where Equinor is seeking to expand its production capacity. The company will operate from the semi-submersible platform Transocean Encouragewhich specializes in highly complex offshore drilling.
