Chinese company Zhongqing Robotics, also known as EngineAI, has made a breakthrough in the world of humanoid robotics . Its latest achievement has stunned the scientific community: a robot that performs a forward flip.
The complexity of a front flip
For years, robots have been able to perform backflips, as Boston Dynamics’ famous Atlas demonstrated in 2017. However, performing a front flip is a much bigger challenge.

Unlike backflips, which involve the use of stronger muscles like the glutes and back, frontflips require greater coordination of the abdominal muscles and hip flexors.
Outstanding features of the humanoid robot
The impressive thing about this achievement is that, being a robot, it experiences neither fear nor hesitation. The PM01 has been designed with powerful electric motors and an advanced joint structure , allowing it to perform complex movements with great precision . The robot has 23 degrees of freedom in its body, giving it remarkable flexibility to execute turns and jumps.

The PM01 also stands out for its ability to walk with one of the most natural claws seen to date. Standing 138 cm tall and weighing 40 kg, this robot, which can be purchased for approximately US$13,700 , is designed for general-purpose tasks and can be programmed for a variety of applications.
