Companies Yinson GreenTech (YGT) and Eastern Pacific Shipping (EPS) have come together to establish a letter of intent (LOI) and achieve organized collaboration in the deployment of electric vessel trials in the Singapore region.

This initiative, led by YGT’s marine electrification division, marinEV, symbolizes a move towards cleaner and more sustainable maritime operations in the area. Together, they plan to pioneer cargo delivery using electric vessels in the Port of Singapore, demonstrating their commitment to environmental responsibility and creating a net zero world.
[post_relacionado]EPS and marinEV will also work on carrying out the first crew transfer carried out by an electric vessel in Singapore. Recognizing the importance of these transfers in maritime operations, this trial will provide valuable data on the feasibility and safety of electric vessels for transporting crews, paving the way for their wider adoption in the industry. Additionally, they plan to integrate electric vessels into last-mile delivery operations, reducing Scope 3 emissions and thus contributing to a cleaner shipping industry.

With the aim of defining emissions reduction goals , marinEV and EPS are committed to working together to create a more encouraging future for maritime transport. This collaboration seeks to make history, and establish the foundations for a truly sustainable maritime landscape.
Jan-Viggo Johansen, CEO of marinEV, expressed his enthusiasm for this partnership, highlighting its importance for the future of the oceans and the transportation industry. For his part, Cyril Ducau, CEO of EPS, highlighting the importance of adopting solutions and working towards the decarbonization of maritime transport.
This announcement follows the launch of the Hydromover, Singapore’s first all-electric cargo ship, by the Goal Zero Consortium, of which Yinson GreenTech is a part. The ship is equipped with interchangeable batteries and zero emissions, which seeks to reduce environmental impact, and improve operational efficiency and maintenance costs in the maritime industry.
