The X30 quadruped robot, developed by Chinese company DEEP Robotics, is marking a turning point in electrical infrastructure inspection and maintenance activities. Known as “SPock,” this robot has begun operating in Singapore’s underground power transmission tunnels, making DEEP Robotics the first Chinese company to deploy such a robot in an international power system.

A collaboration with SP Group, Singapore’s leading electricity supplier, has enabled SPock to autonomously perform inspections of a 40-kilometer underground cable system. Equipped with high-resolution cameras, advanced sensors, and perception algorithms, the robot can detect defects in the infrastructure without human intervention .
This advancement guarantees greater efficiency and represents a significant improvement in safety and reduced operating costs. Furthermore, the implementation of SPock as a first response to emergencies reinforces its potential to transform the electrical maintenance industry.
