Public transport in China is moving towards a more sustainable era with the entry into service of the CETROVO 1.0 Carbon Star Express, the first metro train made of carbon fibre . This innovative train is already operating on Line 1 of the Qingdao metro, one of the main urban routes in the country.
Carbon fiber train reduces weight and emissions
The use of carbon fibre marks a turning point in the railway industry. This material, known for its lightness and strength, has allowed the weight of the train to be reduced by 11% and operational energy consumption to be reduced by 7%. These advances reduce operating costs and also minimise environmental impact, reducing CO₂ emissions by 130 tonnes per train per year.
[post_relacionado]Beyond its energy efficiency, the design of the CETROVO 1.0 offers an improved passenger experience. The properties of carbon fiber reduce vibrations and noise, offering a more comfortable and quiet ride. In addition, low maintenance costs promise a positive impact on the management of urban transport systems.
CRRC promotes sustainability with CETROVO 1.0
Developed by CRRC Qingdao Sifang Co, the Carbon Star Express symbolises a firm step towards China’s “dual carbon” goals. This innovation supports the country’s commitments to sustainability, positioning its rail industry as a global benchmark in green transport.
With its inaugural journey, the CETROVO 1.0 represents a technological advance and a renewed commitment to a greener and more efficient future.
