DN AGRAR Group , the largest producer of cow’s milk in Romania, and BSOG Energy , an energy company focused on sustainable projects, have signed a cooperation agreement to build the biomethane production plant, one of the largest in the country.

DN AGRAR will supply the organic waste needed for biomethane production as part of its strategy to reduce carbon emissions. The manure generated on its farms will be the key input in the process of converting waste into renewable gas.
[post_relacionado]According to Peter de Boer, member of the board of directors of DN AGRAR , the goal is to reduce carbon emissions generated by its operations by 90%. ” We want to transform the company into a leader in sustainable agriculture ,” he said. In this way, the company plans to improve its environmental footprint while contributing to local economic development.
BSOG Energy, a subsidiary of Black Sea Oil & Gas , will be responsible for the development of the biomethane plant. This project is important for the expansion of green energy in Romania, a sector that has seen steady growth in recent years. BSOG CEO Mark Beacom noted that this agreement is the first of its kind in the country and could serve as a model for future biomethane plants.
With the support of shareholders including The Carlyle Group and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development , the initial investment for the plant is estimated to exceed €30 million. There are also plans to expand its capacity to more than 20 MW in the future.
In addition to the environmental benefits, the biomethane plant will generate significant revenues for the company, estimated at up to 3.5 million euros per year. It also provides for the creation of new jobs and the expansion of its infrastructure, including the construction of the new Straja farm, which will house up to 5,000 animals.
This project, in combination with the composting plant that will come into operation this year, is part of DN AGRAR’s long-term strategy to diversify its activity and continue towards a more profitable and sustainable business model.
