Dutch startup BlueHeart , founded as a subsidiary of the Netherlands Organisation for Applied Scientific Research ( TNO ) in 2016, has succeeded in developing a new thermoacoustic device. This system has a capacity of 6 kW, and has the potential to improve the efficiency of heat pumps for the residential sector.
How does the thermoacoustic unit work?
The device harnesses ” sound energy ” by means of pistons that generate acoustic waves , transferring heat from a low-temperature source to a higher-temperature source. This thermoacoustic cycle is efficient and silent, allowing for greater energy efficiency in homes and commercial buildings.
[post_relacionado]One of the main benefits of this technology is its ability to reduce carbon dioxide emissions , which could decrease by up to 7% globally by 2050. In addition, the unit does not use conventional refrigerants, such as hydrofluorocarbons ( HFCs ), which are harmful to the environment. Instead, it uses high-pressure helium , making it a more environmentally friendly solution.
The startup BlueHeart highlights that its system is compatible with multiple heat sources , such as air, water or land, and can even be integrated with solar panels. In addition, its compact design and silent operation make it ideal for all types of homes, thus promoting a more efficient and sustainable model of heating and cooling.
