B2U Storage Solutions has started operations in Texas with an energy storage system built with electric vehicle batteries. reused electric vehicle batteries. reused electric vehicle batteries. This initiative, installed in San Antonio, represents the Californian company’s first foray into the state and has a storage capacity of 24 megawatt-hours, enough to power about 800 homes for a day.
Modular system with EV batteries reused for the grid
The project, called Bexar Corrilla, uses approximately 500 battery packs taken from end-of-life electric vehicles. Through its proprietary EV Pack Storage (EPS) system, B2U offers a modular approach that requires no prior reconditioning of components. Instead of disassembling the cells, the batteries are integrated directly into standard cabinets ready to be connected to the grid.

Growth projections through 2026
The San Antonio plant is the third plant operated by B2U, in addition to two facilities in California. The company plans three new plants in Texas, with the goal of reaching 100 MWh of cumulative capacity in the state. In total, the company expects to operate 150 MWh of reused batteries. reused batteries connected to the grid by mid-2026.
The B2U model responds to a growing problem: the fate of EV batteries after their initial useful life. Their reuse as stationary storage contributes to grid stability and reduces the environmental impact of these devices.
