Latin America’s energy transition has reached a new level with the inauguration of the Desert BESS system, a mega-project developed by Atlas Renewable Energy in partnership with COPEC and its subsidiary Emoac. This facility, located in the Antofagasta region of Chile, marks a firm step towards a more modern and sustainable electricity matrix.
With 200 MW of installed capacity and a storage capacity of 800 MWh, this BESS is designed to capture surplus solar energy. surplus solar energy during peak production hours and redistribute it at times of high demand. This technology optimizes the use of renewable energy and also reinforces the stability of the Chilean electricity grid.

Clean energy to boost electric transportation
